Seven months after former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych abruptly pulled out of an agreement that would tighten Ukraine’s relations with the EU–thereby triggering the current crisis–current President Petro Poroshenko has signed the trade pact. The agreement will bring the country closer to the EU. However, it will also jeopardize relations with Russia and could lead to increased violence with separatists.
