World Faces Worst Humanitarian Crisis Since 1945, says UN official

Stephan O’Brien, a senior United Nations official, has warned of the largest humanitarian crisis since the end WWII with more than 20 million people facing starvation in Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, and Nigeria. This Friday, O’Brien warned the security council in New York that without collective and coordinated global efforts people will starve to death and many more will suffer and die from disease. He urged for an injection of $4.4bn in funds for humanitarian aid  by July “to avert catastrophe” and prevent gains in economic development form being reversed.
